D-Day

D-day as in Deliver Day, not doomsday. How can it be doomsday when something wonderful is going to happen to us? Our precious little bundle of joy will soon be joining us and Mummy PP simply can't wait to hold Trisha in her arms! =)
The decision to do the operation on 11 Jan 07 was not easy. We (or rather Mummy PP) fretted over it for a week, Daddy Xman just decided it's going to be either 10 or 11 Jan and convinced Mummy PP eventually. Here's why we made the choice of 11 Jan 07.

1. Mummy PP initially wanted to wait till Dr Chew comes back from her leave (14-22 Jan) before going for the operation but then she was afraid that if Trisha decided to come along earlier when Dr Chew is not around, then a emergency c-section might be needed and it will be done by another doc...not a choice since emergency c-section cost more and we are not familiar with the stand in doc.
2. Trisha is already considered full term at 37 weeks on 11 Jan 07 and from the week 33 detailed scan at Dr SC Chew, the placenta seems to be aging (layman terms: placenta may not be able to provide enough nutrients to baby Trisha should it age further).
3. If Trisha is born earlier, Mummy will get to enjoy CNY as confinement will be over.

This is Mummy PP's version of what happened on 11 Jan 07. Daddy Xman will post his version some other time.

7:15am - wake up, prepare to leave for hospital
8:00am - reach Gleneagles, check in and went to 5th floor maternity ward 530 to wait
8plus - nurse came to fill in some forms, prepare Mummy PP for the operation
9plus - still waiting.....Mummy PP's parents came
9:45am - wheeled into operating theatre's waiting area, another nurse came to fill in some other forms, pushed into OT.
10plus - Dr Dicky Tay (anaesthetist) came and administered general anaesthesia (GA) and IV drip. Friendly doc, Mummy PP was knocked out in secs! Dr Chew also said hi before Mummy PP was KO. =) Mummy PP knows she's in good hands.
10:17am - baby Trisha was born!!! 1st picture of Trisha.















11plus - woke up, PAIN!!!!!! ARGGGHHH....but too groggy to scream, just whimper for nurse to increase painkiller dosage =p
11:30am - think Mummy PP was wheeled out at about this time back to the ward. Still very groggy.
12:40pm - Mummy PP finally gets to see baby Trisha!















The rest of the day was a blur with visitors coming and Mummy PP sleeping off the GA.

Trisha's stats at birth
Weight = 2.7kg (Gynae overestimated she will be 3kg+)
Length = 51 cm (she's long considering that her parents are not very tall =p)
Head Circumference = 34 cm (hhmmm...not sure if this is big or not but she sure has a nice round head since she doesn't have to be squeezed out of Mummy PP =p)
